A little about my coding journey, struggles, and why I'm sharing it all online.

Hey! I'm Allie, a programmer who's always curious and often just slightly overwhelmed. I love learning—but let's be honest, advanced computer science topics can get pretty intimidating. That's exactly why I started Allie Codes: to document my own learning journey in an authentic, down-to-earth way, mistakes and all. I believe coding is way more fun (and way less stressful!) when you have company, so consider this your open invitation to learn alongside me.

Outside of coding, you'll probably find me reading way too many fantasy novels, drinking endless cups of coffee, or scrolling through Instagram looking for memes. Got questions, tips, or just want to say hi? Reach out—I promise I'm friendly!

My Journey (So Far!)

2016

Took My First Leap into the Freelancing World

I kicked off my first business as a copywriter and editor. Words were (and still are!) my first love, and I learned tons about storytelling, communication, and running my own show.

2021

Time for a Change

After years of working with words, I felt the pull toward something new. Tech was fascinating, challenging, and—honestly—a little terrifying. So naturally, I had to dive in headfirst.

2023

Earned My Master's in Computer Science

Turns out you can teach an old dog new tricks! After many late nights (and plenty of coffee-fueled coding sessions), I got my master's degree. It was hard, rewarding, and opened up a world of possibilities.

2025

Launched Allie Codes

Freelancing in tech can feel isolating, so I created Allie Codes to connect with others who love learning, exploring, and sharing. Now, I'm building the community I wished I'd had when I started—one friendly chat at a time.

Indie Hacking

I'm fascinated by indie hacking—the idea of building small, bootstrapped tech products from scratch. No funding, no fuss, just creativity, code, and figuring things out along the way. Expect content about turning ideas into reality, celebrating small wins, and embracing the indie spirit.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Let's face it—AI is everywhere, and it's moving fast. I'm particularly interested in understanding how AI works, exploring practical ways to apply it, and also navigating the big questions (and occasional ethical puzzles!) it brings. Follow along as I experiment, stumble, and share what I learn.

The Future of Tech

Quantum computing, cybersecurity, virtual reality—there's so much cool stuff on the horizon. I'm excited (and a bit overwhelmed!) by what the future holds.
